Vegetable cultivation (inspection of nursery beds)

A community team leader and one of DI’s project staff inspecting a vegetable nursery bed at Kpoeta in the Ho West district. DI supports local communities to engage in conservation initiatives which only deliver long term benefits hence there was the need to engage communities in initiatives that offer short term benefits. The Kpoeta Cocoa and Tree Planters group (initiated by DI) made of over 40 farmers (both men and women) are being supported to produce vegetables (pepper, carrot, cabbage and onion) to augment their income as well as reduce the pressure on the forest for their livelihoods.
